Windows 7 End of Life

Microsoft Windows 7 end of life is coming in just a few months. If you are still using Windows 7, it’s a good time to start thinking about what you will do.

First of all, what does end of life even mean? Every operating system released by Microsoft has a life cycle during which Microsoft continues to support, update, and fix problems and exploits as they are discovered. As new operating systems are released and must be supported older ones are discontinued. Windows 7 is now a 10 year old operating system and it’s time to move on.

Are you being forced to switch to a newer OS? Not at all. However, as exploits will no longer be patched and newer software and browsers will begin to lose support for an older operating system, it’s a good idea to go ahead and upgrade as soon as possible. Older unsupported systems will be much more vulnerable to malware and other hacks.

Depending on your hardware, there is a good chance that your current computer may be able to be upgraded to Windows 10. If the hardware is older, it may need to be replaced(or upgraded) as well. Interested in finding out more about your options? Give us a call at 336-260-0664.
